YDIDi is pleased to invite you to the 5th Annual Dress Jozi Walk – #DressJozi16.
Now in its fifth (5th) year, Dress Jozi is an annual one day initiative started in 2012 with the objective of making the cruel cold winter days and nights bearable for the homeless and destitute people living in the CBD streets and make-shift shelters of Johannesburg by mobilising youth from all over Johannesburg and surrounding areas stretching as far as Tshwane and the Vaal to collect and donate decent warm clothing, blankets, non-perishable food supplies, sanitary pads and other hygiene items.
Mzwandile Msimanga (YDIDi CEO) and Neo Kuaho (YDIDi MD) are part of the ACTIVATE! Change Drivers’ Network, which consists of over 1600 young people who are driving change for the public good of South Africa.
This year’s Dress Jozi takes place at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown on 4 June 2015 from 7am till 6pm and attracts persons, businesses, government agencies and other social development organizations.
As the cold blistering winter days usher in, some of us who are fortunate enough have already purchased extra blankets, heaters, hot-water bottles, warm winter clothing and footwear. Our roofs and walls will be keeping the relentless winter chills and winds out while we enjoy warm beverages, soup, and foods prepared with our electrical appliances.
YDIDi hereby invites you to jump in with us into action for the homeless, especially women, children and new born babies who we reach every year just in time. We dedicate a day to bring smiles, cheer and some warmth in the form of warm clothing, footwear, blankets, food and other items to our unfortunate brothers and sisters, children and babies around Johannesburg CDB.
It may not be much to you, but it could be the difference between life and death for the homeless. In addition to this, we will be assisting those youths without appropriate corporate interview clothing who have just completed matric or graduated from tertiary institutions going for their first ever interview at various companies, thus we are also calling upon collections and donations of corporate clothing for financially constrained high potential youths.
How you can get involved:
? Become a drop-off point for donations of clothes.
? Collect decent and good clothing to donate on the day of the event.
? Contribute refreshment for the participants.
? Food items to hand out to the homeless/destitute
To confirm your participation or for further details please contact Neo Kuaho on 083-871-8272 or Tutu Mntambo on 078-959-2545 or e-mail email@example.com
We don’t give because we have much… we give because we know how it feels to have nothing.
