The Rainbow Nation Rises – A poem by Mogau Ntsoane
The Rainbow Nation Rises – A poem by Mogau Ntsoane
From the embers of apartheid’s plight,
Emerges a nation, bold and bright,
With hope and courage, side by side,
Determined to tread where justice abides.
The struggle was arduous, the battle hard but won,
Freedom and justice, victories hard-earned,
As we rise, our voices unshushed,
Once stifled, now echoed, our unity brushed.
Now, we gleam resplendently,
An envy to many nations, diverse in every hue,
Standing united, our collective might,
For human rights, equality, justice in sight.
From rolling hills to the sands so gold,
Bustling cities to the rural hold,
The spirit of Mzansi beats on,
A beacon of hope, a radiant dawn.
May the flame of freedom steadfastly burn,
And may South Africa’s people, in their turn,
Uphold the values that make us humane,
Building a world where justice and equality reign.
