The ACTIVATE! Network Covid-19 relief application terms and conditions

The ACTIVATE! Network COVID-19 relief fund aims to target 255 Activators and 10 Youth Hubs across the country. There are limited funds available. Activators are only allowed to apply for one type of support. The organisation will not give cash to Activators, but dispense vouchers or process invoices directly to suppliers. Delivery costs must be included in the invoices supplied. The invoices must not exceed the amounts allocated to each relief grant.

Personal Support:  This support is for individual Activators who need support to help ease the daily struggles caused by COVID 19. A maximum amount allocated for this support is R300 per person. This is a once-off support initiative and therefore Activators are not allowed to apply for it more than once as we need to assist as many Activators as possible. The team will only cover electricity, food, airtime vouchers. The applicant must choose from the mentioned list. The vouchers cannot be transferred into cash. The organisation will not publish any names of Activators who receive this form of support so as to protect the Activators’ dignity. Activators who receive this grant will be finalised based on a needs basis by the review team. We aim to reach 155 Activators for this support grant.

Collaborative/ Initiative Support:  A collaboration is when two or more Activators work together in a community project that may or may not be formally registered. This may be in the form of an ongoing campaign, a community-based project, and/or ongoing programmes. These activities must be recent, not older than March 2020. Activators who apply for this type of support must give information that can be verified. The Activator who applies on behalf of the collaboration must receive consent before listing the names of Activators who form part of the collaboration. The review team will not dictate what the initiative needs to purchase as support. We will request an invoice for the support needed. Please ensure that delivery costs are included in the items needed. The entire invoice must not exceed R1000. If it does, it will disqualify the applicant. ACTIVATE! will not pay cash to any Activator, only to registered suppliers. The applicant must ensure that they give full information on this collaborative project and also be willing to be subjected to a thorough interview or screening process by the review team. The team of Activators must be willing to submit pictures of the materials bought for reporting purposes. The review team will run a screening process that will verify all the information in the application. Any falsification or exaggeration will cause the application to be disqualified. This level of support aims to reach 105 Activators.

An initiative is a fully functioning programme, project, or business that can be run by a single Activator or a group of Activators. This application must adhere to the same rules as stated above for the collaborative application.

Youth Hubs Support: Only Youth Hubs that are listed on the national organisational database of Youth Hubs can apply. Preference will be made to Youth hubs that have not received prior support. The applicant must list all the activities and programmes that are running in the Youth Hub. These activities must be recent, not older than March 2020. Activators who apply for this type of support must give information that can be verified. The Activator who applies on behalf of the Youth Hub must receive consent before listing the names of Activators who form part of the Youth Hub.  The review team will not dictate what the hub needs to purchase as support. We will request an invoice for the support needed. Please ensure that delivery costs are included for the items needed. The entire invoice must not exceed R5000. If it does, it will disqualify the application. ACTIVATE! will not pay cash to any Activator or Youth Hub, only to registered suppliers. The applicant must ensure that they supply comprehensive information on this Youth Hub and also be willing to be subjected to a thorough interview or screening process by the review team. The team of Activators must be willing to submit pictures of the materials bought for reporting purposes. The review team will run a screening process that will verify all the information in the application. Any falsification or exaggeration will cause the applicant to be disqualified. This level of support aims to reach 10 Youth Hubs across the country.

The review team: The review team will comprise of ACTIVATE! staff from various departments. The team will be responsible for receiving applications, screening and interview processes, and final selection of the Activators that will receive the support. They will take into consideration the different provinces, gender, different cohorts, and other demographics to ensure that the process is fair and without prejudice. The review team’s decision is final. ACTIVATE! Staff who are Activators cannot apply for relief. The application closes on the 20th of September 2020
