Sorbet Man – Kyalami Corner joins Generation Gender (GenG) Mental Health Indaba!

We are thrilled to announce that Sorbet Man- Kyalami Corner, is joining us on November 11, 2023, at the Nelson Mandela Foundation in Houghton for the Mental Health Imbizo, themed Men at Work. Sorbet joins a range of partners who will bring their expertise as we address the pressing issue of escalating male suicide rates and promote better mental health among men. The imbizo seeks to empower men to become allies in the fight against gender-based violence (GBV).

The master of ceremonies will be comedian and entrepreneur David Kau, include artistic performances by Makhafula Vilakazi and Okolom, and feature various activities, including:

•  Keynote addresses by influential figures like Dr. Jerry Mofokeng, Nick Nzama, Bongani Luvalo, Siv Ngesi, Ntsikelelo Mzimbomvu, and Siyabulela Jentile
•  A mental health master class and dialogue with the Gentlemen’s Clinic, where experts from a men’s clinic and podcast will discuss critical health issues affecting men,
• Café sessions where men will gather in groups to explore interventions for mental health, destigmatize mental health discussions and engage in creative activities
• A self-care corner with fitness led by activist Siv Ngesi and grooming activities to highlight the importance of self-care as an intervention to combat mental health issues

We recognize that personal grooming is an important element of self-care, but we have to be cognizant that as a result of economic and social barriers, there may be men who may not have sufficient knowledge or understanding of self-care.
