The need for this Capacity Building Tool Kit on Youth Volunteer Management for Civil Society
Organisations were first identified in 2010 by a group of civil society organisations working in the
youth volunteer sector that the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) had brought together
to advise it on developing a strategy for promoting and scaling up youth volunteering in South
Africa. This strategy was intended to inform the new 2012 – 2014 cycle of the partnership between
the NYDA and the Government of Flanders.
