The important role of quantitative literacy in higher education curricula is increasingly being recognized internationally. Yet the quantitative demands of academic disciplines in higher education, for
example in law and humanities, are often very different from those that are the focus of traditional mathematics courses. Completion of mathematics courses does not guarantee quantitative literacy.
