Find your purpose, money will find you

Mrs Limise Mswi (also known as Yamnkela Mqikela) is a 2019 Activator who first learned about ACTIVATE! through fellow Activator creatives in Khayelitsha, Cape Town. While her A! Journey is only getting started, she has been driving change and making a difference for a while longer as the Founder of Sistahood411 and Co-Producer at UnderratedCPT.

Mrs Mswi is currently the Director of Engagement and Events for World Merit South Africa and the lead advocate for innovation, industry and infrastructure (SDG9). She is also a financial consultant, marketer, presenter, vocalist and model.

How does she do it all? Well, we had the privilege of asking her. Here is what she shared with us during the interview:

Take us through your journey as an entrepreneur, how did it all start?

Okay, let’s see. How I started off was through writing. I enjoyed writing proposals and business plans and just understanding organisational structures. I always saw myself delegating and leading.

I started at my previous job in 2019 and resigned April 2021. I’ve been Queen of Sales from the day I walked into the door. I was and still am the best financial consultant they ever had. I hear they still ask about my well-being but honestly do they really care?! I’m content with where God has placed me and that’s all that matters.

What motivated you to take the leap, especially since we are in the middle of a pandemic?

The business plans I wrote when I was in high school are manifesting in my life. It’s like the saying “write it down to get it done”. It has a higher energy than we think. It’s the same as being exposed to what most call the “soft life”, you need to see yourself there before you figure out how you will get there. I’m still figuring it out till this day. It’s a never ending progression.

That’s why I now understand that my time is my time and therefore left my job when I felt that everything I needed to learn in that season I had learned and it was time for me to move on. I was also tired on chasing and securing the bag (money) to a point where I felt my purpose was on pause while I fulfill others’ dreams. It’s understanding your self-worth or what you bring to the table.

What services do you offer?

My services are marketing and events planning for businesses and artists. So starting from an idea to bringing it to life, to drafting the proposal, to the posters to the virtual marketing, videography, editing.  I do it all. My services are what you need. Through my connections and skills, I’m also a brand ambassador.

In essence, I am a freelancer not boxed into anything. When the job comes and it aligns with my brand I get the work done.

Who are some of the women that have inspired you to date?

I look for inspiration in many things but I am mostly self motivated. My mom played a big role in shaping me to be the woman I am today and of course many other family and friends along the way. Her business mind and unwillingness to settle keeps my fire burning.

What advice would you give to young aspiring entrepreneurs?

I am self-made. Nothing came to me or just fell on my lap. I evolve everyday to be the woman I foresee myself to be and the life I live is a work in progress. I don’t have it all figured out but I move. Don’t allow anyone to make you doubt who you think you are and who God says you are, not even your closest loved ones. Find your purpose, the money will find you.
