COVID-19 is currently straining our food systems, disrupting markets and supply chains for small-scale farmers, and threatening peace and stability, especially among the most vulnerable and marginalized groups. According to the youth, they continue to face a lack of role models as well as a climate crisis.
For new results to be achieved, youth should be put at the center and prioritized in such discussions. It is important to hear the voices of the youth about what they want to happen. They should not be seen as recipients or targets only, but as fundamental contributors and partners towards the identification of new and innovative solutions and their consequent implementation of better agriculture, sustainable value chains on our planet, and a healthy lifestyle. At the Imbizo we hope to have a Farmers Market set-up where Activators can showcase/display and sell their produce and also we will be having a session where skills and development practical training will take place to show them how to plant various vegetation or plants.
The OPPORTUNITIES & COLLABORATION IN AGRICULTURE FOR YOUTH & JOB CREATION IMBIZO will be held on the morning of the 29th of November 2021 in Limpopo alongside our sector champion KHOMOTSO KOMAPE and a team of 3 Activators. We will be inviting stakeholders such as Sprout Africa, Corruption Watch, the Agriculture Department & Living Land.
